Mondial House
90-94 Upper Thames Street, London, EC4
A purpose-built international telephone exchange, Mondial House was the largest exchange in Europe when it was completed in 1975. The GRP (glass re-enforced polyester) cladding has weathered remarkably well over the last thirty years. BT vacated the building in 2005 and it is now scheduled for demolition to make way for a shopping centre.
